California Utility Pacific Gas & Electric announced yesterday that it would leave the U.S. Chamber of Commerce over its “extreme” position on climate change. Last month the Chamber proposed that a “trial” be held on climate science, it chose to characterize the ill-fated idea as “the Scopes monkey trial of the 21st century.
PG&E isn’t buying it.
In a letter outlining the reasons why the company rejects the Chamber’s position and why it therefore must leave the organization, PG&E chairman and CEO Peter Darbee wrote:
We find it dismaying that the Chamber neglects the indisputable fact that a decisive majority of experts have said the data on global warming are compelling and point to a threat that cannot be ignored,” Darbee wrote. “In our opinion, an intellectually honest argument over the best policy response to the challenges of climate change is one thing; disingenuous attempts to diminish or distort the reality of these challenges are quite another.”

I’m in a total support of doing something to help the enviroment, but they are really getting carried away. This has to be done in a way that helps everyone including people who have jobs at risk
