US Greenhouse Gas Emissions Have Fallen Nearly 7 Percent Below 2005 Levels

US GHG emissions fell 1.6% in 2011 and are down 6.9% since 2005, according to the EPA’s 2013 Greenhouse Gas Inventory. The longer term trend is still upward, however, with total US GHG emissions having increased an average 0.4% per annum since 1990.

Obama Administration Launches “National Fish, Wildlife, and Plants Climate Change Adaptation Strategy”

With clean energy expected to be one of four main themes of the President’s State of the Union Address tonight, the White House Council on Environmental Quality has launched the “National Fish, Wildlife, and Plants Climate Adaptation Strategy.” Billed as an “unprecedented, collaborative” strategy to comprehensively address the risks and opportunities associated with climate change, the initiative cuts across and streamlines the efforts of numerous government departments, as well as drawing on resources and expertise across a diverse range of other organizations.
