White Spruce Growing Well in Face of Warming Climate at Alaska Firth River Study Site

White spruce at a study site along Alaska’s Firth River are adapting well to a warming climate, according to a Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory research team. That’s in stark contrast to white spruce populations in the rest of the state. The team matched tree ring growth, wood density data and climate data dating back to 1067 in carrying out their study.
