Environmental Protection Agency Regional Administrator Forced Out – For Protecting the Environment?

Environmental Protection Agency Regional Regional Administrator Mary Gade has been “stripped of her authority” and offered the choice of offering her resignation or accepting termination by June 1st.  Gade was involved with a dispute with Dow Chemical over dioxin contamination of soil, sediment, and water stretching some fifty miles downstream from its Midland Plant on the Tittabawassee River.

There are concerns in congress that Gade’s sudden dismissal is due to political concerns and her insistence to pursue Dow Chemical instead of pleasing her political bosses.

Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Barbara Boxer will begin oversight hearing next week to determine the reasons behind Gade’s firing.
