GlobalWarmingisReal contributor Anders Hellum-Alexander wraps-up the climate and environmental news headlines for the past week:
- The US Endangered Species Act (ESA) is constantly attacked by landowners, business owners and politicians. The ESA is challenged in US courts and it survives time after time. There are environmental victories to be found in modern America.
- MotherJones shows it’s readers the brighter side of solar after the Solyndra controversy.
- More Wind Power! Siemens opens wind power distribution center in Wichita, Kansas.
- Fox News reports on how America’s carbon footprint has shrunk in the last three years. Apparently, the coal industry is not worried about the decline in green house gas emissions because in the next couple of years when the economy is healthy again carbon emissions will increase greatly and coal will play a big part in that. Global carbon emission continue to rise at alarming rates.
- Antarctica is breaking up, one giant piece at a time.
- While GOP presidential candidate John Hunstman is a conservative, his energy policy is sound in many ways.
- Subsidies for solar power are always being threatened in the US. One environmental group has put its foot down and is dedicated to making sure that existing subsides continue.
- ExxonMobil spilled 1000 barrels of oil into the Yellowstone river in July, Exxon estimates that the clean up will cost over $135 million. If Exxon were truly a “person” and not a corporation, Exxon would be jailed for a long time. $135 million is nothing to Exxon, that would be like fining a billionaire $10 million for murder.
- Shell is the dominant oil company in Nigeria and is blamed for the history of oil spills that have wrecked the environment in the south of the county. Shell has released data saying that it proves a lot of the spills come from people hacking pipelines for oil.

- More on the pesky Koch Brothers.
- The Center for Biological Diversity is putting the spotlight back on population growth.
A good piece of information about the Solar Power. Keep updating the good stuff.
The time-integral of sunspot numbers, properly reduced by earth IR radiation by using conservation of energy, accurately (R2=0.88) correlates with average global temperatures since 1895 as shown in the pdf made public 3/10/11 at http://climaterealists.com/index.php?tid=145&linkbox=true
The pdf made public 9/24/11 shows the equation that accurately predicted agt since 1990.
