• High Country News reports on a potential new Uranium boom in Colorado. We could trade the quality of our environment for jobs.
• While solar power is taking off in the residential and commercial market the US government is now starting huge solar projects on public land.
• Our current electrical grid is not up to the challenge of going green. The NYTimes illustrates this in an article about how the lack of transmission lines is thwarting the wind power industry in Texas.
• Scientists are tracking plant species in our changing climate and current observations could shed light on future changes.
• Once again our climate is changing faster than we thought it would. The Christian Science Monitor reports on the trends of ice in the Northern Hemisphere.

• If you are in the mood for it, here is a list of the “Top 10 global weather events of 2010.”
• A coal-fired power plant in Kansas is running into legal hurdles while trying to get permitted for its construction.
• The EPA blocked a permit for water pollution to a proposed mine in Western Virginia. This mine has been greatly protested and this is a victory for the many activists that gave their time to stopping a project that would have devastated an ecosystem.
• An improvement on the standard engine may be coming to market soon. Finally car companies have an incentive to improve upon the fuel consumption of their product.
• While we are running out of precious earth metals, at the same time we are creating nanotechnology that will allow us to use our remaining resource more efficiently. There is a point though where efficiency does not help.
• The UK’s Guardian is creating a FAQ for climate change, be a part of it.
• Also, GreenAnswers.com is a website where real people answer your enviro-questions. I answered environmental policy related questions for GreenAnswers for a month in 2009.
• The British government has cut a major slice of the budget for a program that helps citizens become more energy efficient through education and grants.
