The two-day climate change meeting hosted in Honolulu this week by the United States ended without any concrete emissions targets, the AP reports. The conference was attended by 16 nations, the European Union, and the United Nations.
While clear goals and specific targets have yet to be defined, there was some optimism expressed by some delegates by the “changing position” of the United States: from a stance of intransigence to that of a willingness to talk and “frankly discuss differences”.
As the process inches along, Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the IPCC urged U.S lawmakers on Wednesday to “take the lead” in formulating an international response to global warming.
