Looking Toward Bipartisan Environmental Leadership in the New Congress

As Democrats prepare to take control of congress in the coming days, there is renewed hope that a spirit of bipartisan leadership in resource conservation and environmental leadership can once again return to the forefront of congressional oversight, as opposed to the attempted dismantling of all legislative attempts at environmental protection and preservation led by the likes of Richard Pompo, the California representative to which this Californian says “good riddance”.

As expressed today in a New York Times opinion article, a spirit of bipartisan concern for the environment isn’t as uncommon in the halls of congress as recent years would indicate. A new leadership brings with it the promise of that spirit renewed.

That is what we hope for in 2007.
