More About Airlines and Global Warming

Our topic today continues to be aviation and the contribution from commercial air travel to global warming and climate change.

The EU today approved plans to include the aviation industry in its carbon trading program. Air travel presents a challenge for such programs given its global nature. Additionally, gauging the actual impact of carbon emissions from jetliners is difficult because the impact of those emissions are much greater with a jet flying in the upper atmosphere.

CNN International published a brief rundown of the key points of carbon emission quotas for the airline industry.
