The House Select Energy Independence and Global Warming Committee, chaired by Ed Markey, co-author of the American Clean Energy and Security Act, will hold a hearing this Thursday to consider how the U.S. can best adapt to inevitable climate change.
A report from the U.S. Global Change Research Program shows the effects of climate change are already being felt throughout most of the country, including increased heavy downpours, rising sea levels, melting glaciers, altered river flows, and prolonged growing seasons.
The Committee hearing will consider strategies for coping with these and coming changes at the local, regional, and national levels.
